I remember seeing an article somewhere several years ago about a town in Italy that has an event each year commemorating an event that occured in the middle ages. The men divide into two camps and act out a battle using shields and clubs.
Is anyone familiar with this event or know the name of the town?
Thanks,
Rick

I believe that's it. I remember now that it had something to do with a bridge.
Thanks,
Rick

Such events are ever and ever more common in Italy, as more cities start to bring back they "old costumes", with various degree of historical accuracy (have you ever see a bishop of the 12th century with the reeboks?).
I partecipated to some very accurate, like the "Battle of Lodi" and the medieval reconstruction of Castell'Arcuato (in that even the food for the companies is period, and it's the only time when we, as Compagnia del Nibbio, don't cook).
