I just purchased this old axe.It has no markings on it whatsoever.Is it a boarding axe or a fire axe.

Do you have a higher-res or brighter photo available?

Is there any indication that this was re-hafted? I'd say that, given the relative short handle length, it's not a fire axe.. though, if there's an indication it was re-hafted, then this theory goes out the window.

I bought an axe looking pretty much like that one in a military surplus store a few years back. It came with a belt frog. Seems to be a general purpose axe used in some army.
