At the siege of Vienna scythes where used by militia formed out of ordinary citizens. the had holes in the blades for bolts so they could be joined. the angles of the fastening was changed so that two of the three blades where like an Y and the third straight ahead. They where joined using said bolts and nuts so that the blades overlapped/crossed in rows YYYYY one militia per shaft. The Turks did not like this. I would think that the Glaive is an improved war scythe. Every farmer had at least one scythe and it only takes some heat to straighten them.
