Alrighty, though I won I still had to fork over some $$$ ...
Some of you may have known Christian Fletcher was
having a mini-auction on his website, well I was the
gent who slipped away with the Albion Sovereign. It
has the bronze pommel, which I wasn't sure I'd like so
much, but in fact do; and an oxblood grip.

I gotta say this blade has presence, in a different way
than The Squire I showed off a bit ago. The Sovereign
kinda' surprised me with its nimbleness. I thought this
wide blade would present more weight, but in fact its
like the slightly beefy kid in a schoolyard who's oddly
quick for his size ...

So, here's my Sovereign ...

Congratulations, Matthew. I had been eyeing that piece, but the timing of Mr. Fletcher's auction was really wrong for me. Enjoy it!

Hi Matthew,

What can I say, I have this biggest smile on while typing this. I am sure, as I said on SFI, room must be made for this beautiful sword in your collection and if your wife is anything like mine, something has to go. Eek!

Any nice katanas being moved out? Razz

Welcome to the club of Sovereign owners. Now all you need is some choice items to fill the pommel recesses. And watch that blade, it's nasty sharp as well as nimble.

Thank's Steve .... this is the first time I've actually " won " this type of an auction ...
I'd credit it more to, maybe, less people picking-up on it than me out-bidding
everyone in sight. Right up to the last day I expected someone to zap me with
a finance-draining bid of $ 676 ... hehe.

What was unbelievable to me at least is NOBODY picked up the DelTin Schiavona
that was there for an incredibly generous price !

Well, I know one thing ... I join a club of gentle folk with the most excellent taste in their blades ! B-)
As for the pommel ... as said, I wasn't really smitten with the bronze, until in hand; it gives the blade
an extra aesthetic sense of itself, if you will. As for filling in the recesses, notgunna'do'it ... I like these
simple and sweet. Besides, this sunuvagun is a bit of a surprise just in itself.

Congrats Matthew.

I've been trying to make a sale on another non-sword item and I had my eye on this one. Luckly for you I haven't made the sale yet!

Oh, yeah. I thought long and hard about the schiavona, too! Problem is, I still have my daughter's wedding coming up next weekend. I have had to force myself to let sanity prevail.

I didn't even know it was going on.

If the point was to draw attention, the marketing effort may have missed a few of us.
