I have had one theory from someone on SFI saying that they could be similar to 'marati' used in Indian martial arts, to build muscle memory in making correct sword cuts. They are held in the middle and rotated forwards or backwards to practice oberhau or unterhau.

Apparently they also look like lemon zesters... Big Grin

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Colin

Interesting things. I am not sure if they would be workout items. They are quite short and I doubt heavy enough to produce such an effect as you describe. My guess is they are at best three feet long.

I have not seen anything like them in the European context before, that of course does not mean they didn't exsist, just I have not come across them before.
