I don't feel like listing them all but I did buy around 20-25 books this year in addition to the sharp and pointies. The only thing as good as a sword is a book about a sword.

Collection Update as of Yesterday. Wife and I split Christmas money given to us, which afforded me with $225.00 and was not allowed to exceed that amount on self. So, yesterday I went over to a local sword distributor and bought the Paul Chen Hanwei "Sir William Marshall Sword".

OK so I am a little sick with my obsession. Laughing Out Loud Eek! Laughing Out Loud

Happy Holidays!

I sold two spearheads, a repro a 9th century viking/ saxon helmet with mail aventail and a pattern welded seax by Tim Noyes.

I bought a magnificent pattern welded spearhead by Vinc Evans.

Just had to postpone my next order with Patrick Barta, though. My daughter wants to go to university!

Added - Albion NexGen Talhoffer, and a custom sheath for my A&A Black Prince. I also bought some new books: "Medieval Combat," Hans Talhoffer (trans. and ed. by Mark Rector); "The Reign of Edward III" by WM Ormond; and "A Life of Eleanor of Aquitaine" by Alison Weir. I mention the books out of respect and agreement with Patrick and Aaron about putting *collecting* aside for awhile and focus more on *learning.*

Sold - Two Albion FirstGen swords (Acre type XII and Pompeii Gladius); and an A&A Henry V. Still trying to sell my Windlass Gothic bastard sword.

For 2006 - New copy of E. Oakeshott's 'Records' (current one is literally falling apart); A&A Edward III sword (how much longer will my budget keep me waiting? Mad ); and a copy of Guy Windsor's "Swordsman's Companion."

BTW, Paul, I extend to you enormous respect for postponing a custom sword purchase so your daughter can go to university. Family first! You're an awesome guy! Cool -Ted

Different aspects of the hobby, Ted! The hands and the brain can enjoy this as much as the eyes can, and the spirit will benefit heavily as a result.

Cheers!

Cheers Edward, I don't have much choice - my wife would kill me!

I forgot to mention, I also got a Valsgarde style vambrace and a pair of greaves made by my friend, Tim Noyes.

Well,

I am new to this forum as well as new to the whole sword thing (I only started early in 2005) but here's my meager list....

Swords...(in order of apperance)
1) Sword of Valen (a cheap SS wall hanger that started me off...I bought it on a whime and then started to do some research)
2) Some wooden long sword wasters
3) CAS Lionheart
4) Windlass 15th Century Hand and Half
5) Windlass Classic Medieval (bought it yesterday)

Weapons
1) Medieval Axe (don't know who made it)
2) Medieval Mace (Master Cutlery...not exactly period but looks good on the shelf)
3) Windlass Assam Kukri (I know it's not in keeping with the rest but is kinda cool and was pretty inexpensive)

Books...part 1 (sword fighting specific)
1) Medieval Swordmanship - John Clements
2) The Swordsman's Companion - Guy Windsor
3) Fighting with the German Longsword - Christian Henry Tobler
4) Medieval Combat - Hans Talhoffer
5) Medieval Sword and Sheild - Paul Wagner and Stephen Hand
6) DVD - The Longsword of Johannes Liechtenauer - Agilitas.tv
Books...part 2 (history etc)
1) The Struggle and the Mastery - David Carpenter (the history of Britain from 1066-1284)
2) A Knight and His Weapons - Ewart Oakeshott
3) A Knight and His Armour - Ewat Oakeshott
4) The Book of the Sword - Richard F. Burton
5) The Oxford Illustrated History of Medieval Europe
6) The New Peguin Atlas of Medieval Europe
7) The Worst Jobs in History - Tony Robinson (loved the TV show, it's hilarious, so I had to get the book)

Just for fun...
1) a small wooden model Catapult
2) a small wooden model Trebuchet

I have also taught myself to make "butted" Chaimaile and am 2/3 finished a coif (looks really bad but I am still learning)

I know that this is list may not be to some standards here but like i said, I am only starting...

For 2006....Hum....
Stayed tunned..

-A Paul Chen Practical Knightly sword to practice with

Books

-"Renaissance Swordsmanship" by John Clements
-"Medieval Miltary Costume" by Gerry Embleton
-"Osprey English Soldier 1400-1500"
-"Osprey Elite Armada 1588"
-"Osprey English Longbowman"
-"Osprey Medieval Heraldry"

No new swords in 2005; nothing I saw excited me enough to make me place a killer bid. Didn't see anything on the dealer's sites, either. But that's OK; I'm pretty happy with my collection as it is.

No new books, although in 2004 I picked up a couple.

Didn't sell anything from my collection in 2005.

Hello All!

This year I got
-a nineteenth century Indian tulwar with a doublefullered blade.
-a Paul Chen/Hanwei/CasIberia Practical Baskethilted Backsword.
-a dirk of the same type as sold by Jas Townsend

And I have ordered a basket hilted broadsword, but from who and what type is a bit secret.

I finally got John Wallace Scottish Swords and Dirks as well.

Cheers,
Henrik

Constant and true.

Hello, everyone!

Unfortunatelly, nothing new Mad
Reasons: Up to the end of AUG I was busy with my new flat (it's something new but it's not a weapon Laughing Out Loud ), after that I spent three months in Slovakia away from home and my collection.
For the next year I'm planning to finish my katana, wakizashi and tanto; to make another Japanese dagger (probably it will be aikuchi), to make a spiked flail, and to start with my newest challenge - a suit of Japanese armour.

Mary Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you, friends!

Regards!
