Medieval Crossbow

Western Europe — Circa 1200-1500

This fully functional crossbow represents a style very common throughout medieval Europe into the early renaissance period. The stock has a grooved top to guide the quarrel and is rather utilitarian looking. The heavy steel prod is intricately etched with images reproduced from historic woodcuts and is bound-in with cording. The brass release nut is re-enforced with steel where the trigger meets it. The quarrel rest, on the top of the stock, is shown pulled back and out of the way.

Overall length: 34"
Width of prod 26"
Draw length: 8.5"
Draw weight: ~120 pounds
Effective range: 85+ yards

Maker: Michael Dabeck of Canada
