Arms & Armor Writhen Rapier

Original: c. 1625, Italian. Wallace Collection, London

Heavily roped swept hilt in steel; complex twisted wire bound grip crowned with turk's heads; three rings on the foreguard complimented by a four bar inner guard.

The Italian original dates about 1625, though this style was seen as early as the 1580šs.
